Charles F. Grzanka, Founding Partner
Mr. Grzanka received his B.A. degree from the University of Michigan before graduating from Wayne State Law School. He is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, Michigan Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Michigan Self Insurers Association. He is past chairman of the Young Lawyers' Section of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, a member of the Michigan State Bar Association sections of Workers' Compensation and Negligence, a member of the American Bar Association Committee on Workers' Compensation & Employer's Liability, and a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Grzanka is the founder and president of the law firm of Grzanka Grit McDonald. He has practiced workers' compensation law for more than 30 years, representing both insurance companies and self-insured employers throughout the entire state of Michigan. Mr. Grzanka, in addition to the defense of disability compensation claims, has bench and jury trial experience in a number of areas including personal injury, medical issues, handicap discrimination, wrongful termination, breach of contract, construction and commercial disputes, and product liability.
Mr. Grzanka is a past member of the International Society of Primerus Lawyers and has been selected for admission by the A.M. Best Company for inclusion in its Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys. He has also been featured in the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers as having received the highest (AV) rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and having been designated as outstanding in his field. In addition to lectures and seminars throughout the United States, Mr. Grzanka has also lectured in Japan on issues of product liability and sexual harassment litigation.
Randall R. Grit, Partner
Mr. Grit received his B.S. degree, with high distinction, from Ferris State University before graduating from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, cum laude. He is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan.
Mr. Grit has over 20 years of experience representing self- insured employers and insurance companies throughout the State of Michigan. Mr. Grit has developed an expertise in the development of creative and effective strategies for resolving large loss and other difficult claims, including, but not limited to, claims filed following a plant closure. Mr. Grit also has experience in other areas of the law including personal injury, commercial litigation, contract disputes, product liability and wrongful termination claims.
Michael P. McDonald, Partner
Mr. McDonald received his B.S. degree with high distinction from Ferris State University before graduating from the Detroit College of Law, where he was an Editor on the Law Review and a published author. He is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, American Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan.
Mr. McDonald has extensive experience in the area of workers' disability compensation, Michigan No-Fault litigation, casualty, property, arson and fraud defense. Mr. McDonald has extensive trial experience at the administrative, state and federal levels. He previously served as a Senior Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Muskegon County. He has handled appellate matters up to the Federal Circuit Court and Michigan Supreme Court levels.
Jon V. Coretti, Senior Counsel
Mr. Coretti received his B.A. degree from Lake Forest College before graduating from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, cum laude. He was awarded two American Jurisprudence Awards in law school and served on the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review. He also received his LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center. He is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, and the National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP).
Mr. Coretti's main expertise is in the area of subrogation law representing insurance carriers and self-insureds. He represents numerous nationally known transportation companies and insurance carriers on a nationwide basis, with respect to property damage, cargo claims, worker's compensation lien claims, and various collection matters.
In addition, he has experience in a wide array of civil practice areas including, insurance law, estate planning, taxation, corporate law, stock purchase agreements, construction law, business litigation, and bankruptcy. His insurance litigation experiences includes automobile, dramshop, premises liability, arson and fraud, subrogation claims arising from fires, explosions, negligence, and products liability. Mr. Coretti's trial experience includes representing clients in both jury and bench trials in Michigan's district and circuit courts, with appellate experience in both the Michigan Court of Appeals and Michigan Supreme Court.
